Fresh Foundation delivers 2650 lbs of local produce to food banks + Mesa Rose Kitchen to open soon…

\"\"The Fall hustle and bustle to get our gardens put to bed for the winter is coming to a close soon. Garlic has been planted and the leaves have changed yet cling on as the warm air lingers. The anticipation of the new Mesa Rose Kitchen + Grocery store opening is real. Not to worry, it’s coming soon… depending on delayed equipment deliveries, Kate and Erik plan to open the cafe sometime between November 15th and November 2oth. They will add groceries to their business December 15th.

In the meantime, the Fresh Foundation has been crunching numbers and evaluating programming. We are excited to announce that with our new wholesale program and subsidies offered by CHF and Hunger Relief grants we were able to deliver 2650 lbs of local produce to the local food banks. The community food connection plot team headed by Leila Seraphin grew and distributed 675 lbs of free produce to our three regional food banks in Telluride, Norwood and Nucla.

The Fresh Foundation with the help of Kristi Calbert, served 497 senior meals this summer funded partially by the Blueprint for Hunger Grant. The Foundation has been subsidizing local food for the Divide’s Senior lunch services.

While you are waiting for the Mesa Rose grocery store to open, please consider shopping with Vicki’s Fresh Food Movement by going to her website to place your order online for delivery. She is picking up the slack with offering Snyder Family Ranch Lamb, Apple Core Juice, local eggs and more! Or, visit lovely Galit at Wild Gals Market in Nucla. We love shopping local and supporting stores that focus on featuring our area producers and artisan makers. Galit accepts EBT and double up bucks!
