Welcome to our community, Kate & Erik Anderson! New Operators of the cafe + grocery…

With great excitement, the Fresh Foundation (DBA, the Fresh Food Hub) introduces Kate and Erik Anderson, the new collaborators that will help keep the local food system thriving in Norwood. “We are so excited that this amazing, food-oriented and talented couple wanted to land in Norwood and invest in our community,” says Leila Seraphin, Founding member of the Fresh Food Hub. “They are filling a massive gap with Thorneycroft Kitchen & Bakery closing, also taking over the Fresh Food Hub’s grocery store and delivery program.”

With an enhanced business model, the Anderson’s intend to reopen a store at 1605 Grand Avenue in November and will focus on a combined cafe and grocery store featuring prepared foods, coffee, and the same quality and local food as before, fulfilling the mission and vision started in 2015 when the Fresh Food Hub was founded. “The Fresh Foundation is in partnership with Mesa Rose Kitchen + Grocery and will continue to work with Erik and Kate as we start this new chapter in our nonprofit organization” Leila Seraphin adds.

Mesa Rose Kitchen + Grocery BIO: Mesa Rose Kitchen + Grocery is the love child of couple Kate & Erik Anderson. Kate has had a career in sustainability + product development in the fashion industry over the past 20 years. Erik has a degree in Marine Biology and has transitioned into a well seasoned carpenter over the years. When we first met years ago, we had a very common theme that we shared: the love of all things food, flavor + farming, all while making sure to keep it local and our footprint in the supply chain short and tight. Knowing where our food was coming from, who was growing it and how it was grown is the key ethos of our shop and company. Since moving to the area in 2019, we have fallen in love with Norwood. We look forward to reopening the iconic bakery and local grocer on Grand Avenue that will incorporate ready made foods, delicious coffee and quality local goods.
